Winters in Florida are usually warm and sunny with blue skies. January and February 2009 experienced some cold fronts that were felt all around the US. Florida was mostly spared from the harsh weather conditions, but experienced its coldest nights and Miami cold fronts of the year by the beginning of February 2009.
Floridians are not used to rare periods of cold and need to adapt. The current Miami cold fronts are not expected to last and the National Weather service will lift its wind chill warning today, Thursday, February 5th, 2009. Florida’s year-round weather pattern (link to Miami-info) shows that it a few days of cool weather is not uncommon. The Miami cold fronts weather reached lows of 15 degrees in early morning but will gradually warm up to temperatures in the mid 60’s.
